EARLY SHOWS AND ENDURANCE RIDES In the early 20th Century, State Fairs became the showcase for Morgan Horses. As horses were used less as the main mode of transportation, the market readjusted and Morgans focused on pleasure riding and driving. Regional and national shows developed.
"Going to the Fair", Painting by George Ford Morris To breed the best horses for the Cavalry, the U. S. Government took part in endurance competitions -100 miles and 300 miles. The Morgans were always superior endurance horses. The spirit of endurance competitions remains strong today. |
